I am looking forward to seeing what they do, but am slightly apprehensive due to the large number of characters being added, is it too many? I hope not.

He looks like a combination of Mr Freeze and a member of the Na'vi.

He does look a bit cold. But I'm guessing they're going with blue Ultimate Electro.

Hmmm. So they cut all the dad stuff from the first movie and now they've cut all the Mary Jane scenes from this one.
I really don't like this thinning out of the story and spreading it over future films.

Saw this last night. Was certainly enjoyable and I had fun but it has it's fair share of problems. Peter and Gwen's relationship is still one of the strongest aspects and Garfield is great as Peter again. The action sequences are great and the fluidity of Spider-Man is awesome to see. All the performances are good really. Really liked Foxx as Max Dillon, absolutely nothing like his comic book counterpart but his awkward, dorky persona generates a real sympathy.
Problems. Anyone who complains about Venom in Spider-Man 3 not getting enough screen time can shut up when they see the Green Goblin's screen time in this one. So much, too much is in this film. It's frustrating the amount of set up in this film. One character from the comic appears and then has only one or two other scenes after and it's disappointing knowing we won't hear from this character again until another installment. Electro I liked overall but he feels disjointed from the main narrative, like he's just there for Spider-Man to fight.
The final battle is awesome though, this was my favourite sequence in the film for several reasons. I'm a sucker for tracking shots, where the camera doesn't break away from the action (Think Children of Men or The Avengers) and this has a fair few of them. I also really liked the use of music in this but that's appeared to elicit a mixed response from some.
So it's a good time but still doesn't hold a candle to Spider-Man 2. I think this film's worst enemy was it's marketing. The film's final shot is in the trailer and very few surprises are left for the final film. I watched the 3 trailers they released and that was it for me. There was little misdirection in those trailers and it made it easy to figure out the surprises in store, well ahead of time. I didn't come out of this one on a high like I did with the first one.
