Moffat going pleases me. Admittedly, Season 9 was one of the best since Tennant's era but most of his run, I've not been a fan of. Not having any episodes this year doesn't upset me too much. I'll live, and they've said that it'll be an event in 2017, and worth the wait. Chibnall would not have been my first place to take his slot. I didn't like 42 and I don't remember his two-parter in Season 5 at all. It's very different but Broadchurch is really awesome so if it can hold up that quality then maybe it'll be good!

I'll be cautiously optimistic.I've read since that he wrote a lot of Torchwood and Some Life on Mars episodes, so he's capable of greatness.

While I'm sad to see Moffat go, I do think it was time he left and handed over the showrunner duties to someone else (especially after Cyberbrig!). I hope Capaldi stays on under the new showrunner for another series at least. Ideally with the new showrunner, I'd like to see other writers being more involved and having more input into story arcs, series plotlines, etc. More of a team effort then the showrunner deciding the direction of the series/arcs themselves. Probably won't happen though! I think there being no Doctor Who in 2016 is worth it if it will bring the series back to Spring and hopefully an earlier time as well, rather then having to compete with Strictly, X Factor and the other big event shows. And there will still be a Christmas special, and the new spin-off "Class" to look forward to in 2016.
