I'm curious what everyone's first issue of the CEs was and your general CE collecting story. My first ever CE issue was Astonishing Spider-Man Vol.1 #88 back in Summer 2002, which got me hooked (I was already collecting Spectacular Spider-Man Adventures and the UK Ultimate Spider-Man comic.) Then I started getting Mighty World Of Marvel and Marvel Legends from their first issues (2003 and 2006.) I added Essential X-Men and Wolverine & Deadpool since House of M started (2007), then started getting Avengers United when The Collective story started in 2008 as it was a sort of sequel. Finally I started collecting Fantastic Four Adventures when the Civil War tie-in started (2009) and followed the title through it's change to Incredible Hulks. After Secret Wars (2016), I dropped every title aside from Astonishing Spider-Man and Essential X-Men as I didn't like the new story direction and the prices had risen too. I dropped ASM in December 2017 and EXM in April 2018, so it has been nearly 3 years since I bought a CE and I can't see me getting one again unfortunately.

Remember first seeing the CEs in the shops in mid-90s, and then my mum buying me first issue of Heroes Reborn a year or so later, as was reading US issues at time. Brought a few issues of Essential X-Men in 2000 when they had coverage and photos of X-Men movie (this was at time when not everyone had Internet) - remember excitement of seeing Patrick Stewart in photos in role of Xavier (this was also time when for most casual fans he was "the guy from Star Trek"!!) Started buying the CEs properly and regularly around 2010 - for financial reasons hadn't been able to buy US issues for a number of years, and was a good (and cheaper) way of staying up to date and reading latest/recent adventures. Initially got Fantastic Four Adventures and Essential X-Men as relaunches at time, and then started reading Astonishing Spider-Man a little while later. When Fantastic Four Adventures was cancelled I started reading Avengers Universe (which relaunches around same time Fantastic Four ended - reprinting post-Siege Avengers titles). Stuck with them since - until pandemic resulted in titles temporarily coming to an end that is. Hopefully they will return - will wait and see how they relaunch before deciding which ones to get.

I believe it was Astonishing Spider-man vol 1 #86. I was off from School one day and my Nan took me into a nearby Market where she got me the issue.
She would then buy me Ultimate Spider-man every month. Finally, around December 2006 (just a month before the launch of Marvel Legends), I started collecting the CEs and stopped around 2017. I've not picked up any of the CEs since and I doubt I'll ever go back to them. Honestly, it was around the time they relaunched into that book format which threw me off.
Also it's nice to see People still around on here, I come back about twice a year to see what's up. I joined the Panini forums sometime in 2008, so it's weird to think this forum has been here longer than I was on those Forums.
I miss those days honestly, they were great.
