I don't collect any CEs any more and haven't for around 2 years, but I keep up with the news about them on their Facebook page. They're reducing the price of them to £4.50 each, but they'll now be just 52 pages instead of 76! Marvel Legends has dropped Iron Man from its roster and ASM will be printing just Peter Parker titles. Between MWOM being cancelled and now this news (plus Titan's CE range going under), I don't think the CEs will be around for much longer, especially with trades and digital being cheaper for more content.

I've still been getting three of these collectors editions - although seeing this news I'm not too sure now. Might at the very least look for alternatives.
Think I'd prefer the £4.99 price tag and 76 pages to £4.50 for 56. As £4.50 seems like it may still put off casual buyers.
Also notice the letters pages have been appearing less and less due to a lack of people writing in.

After reading more on the Facebook page, Iron Man isn't being removed from Marvel Legends completely but has been swapped out for the moment. The reason is that Marvel Legends will soon need the space as it will be where War of the Realms will be printed.

I noticed this too. I'm kinda glad I dropped the CEs in favour of the American copies. I do see this as the final nail in the coffin for the CEs however, which is a shame considering how much they were part of my life.

I popped in to WHSmiths yesterday for the first time in months and had a look at the comics section to see what the CEs were printing these days. They had Doctor Who, 2000AD and Judge Dredd but the Marvel section was completely empty. I haven't bought a CE since early 2018 so I haven't really kept up with them but it'd be a real shame if they're gone.

They haven't been published since around April - their Facebook page says they plan to return, with the most recent post saying they had "exciting plans" to relaunch the CEs - so guess they will return in some form - guess perhaps once the movies start returning so there is more interest from casual buyers.

I've heard that Brexit is delaying the return of the CEs (as well as the ongoing pandemic restrictions) because the CEs are printed in Italy. I honestly can't see them returning at this point and if they do, how they would go about "catching up." I haven't bought a CE for nearly 3 years now but it would be a shame to see them go, they were a major part of my life from 9 years old up to 25 years old.

The CEs were my main form of reading/"keeping up with" marvel comics, primarily X-Men and Avengers. Its just been so long now all their plans to catch up a bit closer to the US will be out the window, not that reducing the amount of stories printed would have helped either. I miss these a lot, nice bite sized weekly reads. Was holding out hope for a long time these would return but not really sure what to do anymore as its not looking good, but not sure where'd I'd pick up from TPBs etc.

There was a Down The Tubes article - apparently Wolverine & Deadpool will be cancelled, and a new CE simply titled "X-Men" (although suspect this could be a holding name - I'd guess we may get a combined Wolverine/X-Mn CE?)
And a Batman CE relaunching with a new name.
Guess we'll get more confirmation and details soon.

They've updated the news again today. There will now be 4 titles (3 Marvel and 1 DC). Spider-man will continue with Hunted, which I think is where there left off. It'll now be called "Amazing Spider-man" and be printed every 28 days. It will also reprint two issues an issue.
Batman will be much of the same and will reprint the latest run and Batman Universe.
X-Men will start with Hickman's run and will reprint 5 issues a month at the price of £7.99 a month.
Finally there is a book that looks like it'll be a mixture of MWOM and Avengers, with it reprinting Empyre and Venom. That too will reprint 5 issues a month at £7.99.
Like many others, I've not been reading the CEs for a few years now, instead getting the American issues in a month to month basis, but it is a shame to see this happen to the line.
Hopefully they'll bounce back from this, but I doubt it, they seemed to have problems even before the Pandemic with them reducing the page count and cancelling MWOM. But maybe it'll find that audience. We'll just have to seen from here.
Printing Donny's Venom run is a great idea as it does lead into a couple of the events and is just a good series in general. I was wondering where it would be printed in the CEs but we've now got an answer

£7.99 for 5 issues (£1.60 per issue) is not that bad tbh. It's a drastic change but hopefully it works out well for them!

The £7.99 works out at less then the pre-lockdown format if ou consider number of pages. Previous format was £4.50 for 2 US issues being reprinted, and new format is just over double the size, so works out at equivalent (possibly alighty less) of £4 per previous format. Notice the two new £2.99 ones are not available on subscription - wonder if this is to allow for lower price in shops (works out around same as pre-lockdown subscribtion offer prices, so as new price already lower can't apply o offer any discounts for subscribing). Looking forward to their return - plan to get Marvel Essentials and Amazing Spider-Man!

I think the lack of subscription for Spider-man and Batman will ultimately hurt those books. Especially now as we've become more vary of how we go out and where we go. If Supermarkets like Tesco or ASDA stock them however, then that may help them in the long run.

I'm thrilled to see them coming back and trying new things to try to attract a new audience too. I won't be getting any of them as I've read all the stories already, but if I hadn't then I'd get all 4 for sure. I also love that this thread has become a Reunion of sorts, this is the busiest this forum has been in years
