Panini have announced that both Marvel Essentials (with #12 in March 2022) and X-Men (with the latest issue being the last) will be ending.
Although it looks like Spider-man and Batman will be continuing!

I haven't bought any issues of either of them, but it's a shame to read that they're being cancelled, especially at this time of year.
Did they at least finish their respective storylines?

The latest issue of Essential X-Men (#10) is the final issue - it has an extra 20 pages so guess that is to help wrap up current storylines. Marvel Essentials ends with #12 in March - so guess any storylines that are running (including Venom which so far has featured throughout all issues, guess to tie in with recent movie) will conclude. Panini have mentioned on the Marvel Universe Facebook page that the £2.99 titles (Amazing Spider-Man and Batman) will continue.

That's something at least, nothing worse than committing to a storyline and it being left unfinished.

I got the last issue of Marvel Essentials last week (ending with #10 rather then #12 as originally announced). Feels like Venom was building up to next big storyline (reprinted conclusion of Venom Island) while Savage Avengers while concluding current story, felt like it was building up to something. Wish they had printed something a bit more MCU friendly in Marvel Essentials though (e.g. the main Avengers run).

Venom and Savage Avengers are FAR better stories than the rubbish that is Jason Aaron's Avengers and I can confirm that they both had suitably epic conclusions. I highly reccommend seeking out the TPBs of the remaining issues of both series
