With no Christmas or New Year special this year, I thought it would be fun to look back at previous specials. Do you have any particular favourite Doctor Who Christmas specials from previous years?

The 2005 Christmas Special is my absolute favourite as it was our first ever one and the first full introduction of David Tennant. All the RTD era specials are classics to be fair and some of the strongest/most memorable episodes of his first tenure as showrunner.
In the Moffat era, for Matt Smith I'd say my fave is the doctor, the widow and the wardrobe as it was so heartfelt. It's a tie between the husbands of riversong and twice upon a time for Peter Capaldi as both were fitting finales for both Riversong and Peter Capaldi's Doctor.

I like the Christmas Invasion too - always watch it every year. Also have a soft spot for the Runaway Bride. From Moffat era, it's a difficult one, but I'm going with Husbands as my favourite - I like how it concluded River Song's storyline, but still felt self contained, so you didn't have to see any other story to enjoy it.
